What it is:
A visual preview showing exactly how your post will appear on LinkedIn.
Preview options:
Desktop view
Default view showing how the post appears on LinkedIn desktop interface. Shows:
- Your profile picture and name
- Full post text as it will display
- “See more” button location (where text gets truncated in the feed)
- Character count before truncation
Mobile view
Check the mobile view button to see how the post appears on LinkedIn mobile app. Mobile truncates earlier than desktop and displays differently. This is critical to check since a lot of LinkedIn users access via mobile.
Folded view
Check the folded button to see only what’s visible before “See more” is clicked. This is the hook - the text people see in their feed before deciding whether to read more. If the folded view doesn’t grab attention, the post won’t get read.
With media
Preview includes options to see how the text is displayed when you add images or video to the post. Media can change the text display, so preview with media before publishing mixed-content posts.
Why Preview matters:**
What looks great in your writing box might display poorly on LinkedIn. Preview reveals:
- Whether your hook (first 140-210 characters) actually grabs attention
- If paragraph breaks create readable spacing or turn into walls of text
- How line breaks, emojis, and formatting actually render
- Whether mobile users see something different (and worse) than desktop users
Always preview before publishing. What you write isn’t what people see until you verify it in Preview.
