Lime helps you find important connections by sorting through your network effectively.
Most LinkedIn users have hundreds or thousands of connections, but only a fraction are strategically valuable at any given time. Lime helps you identify low-hanging fruit - connections already aware of you who are more likely to engage, build a relationship, and convert to sales or partnerships.
Adding connections to Lime allows you to spend your LinkedIn time wisely, engaging with the right people who move your business strategy forward. Once connections are in Lime, you can sort through them effectively, tag them by importance or category, and move them through processes that convert cold contacts into warm leads. No important person gets lost in your sprawling network.
There are two ways to add connections to your Lime account.
Method 1: Download Connections from LinkedIn
Import your existing LinkedIn connections in bulk by downloading them directly from LinkedIn and uploading to Lime.
How to download connections from LinkedIn:
- Go to your LinkedIn Data Export page
- Select Download larger data archive (the top one)
- Click Request archive and LinkedIn will prepare a download file
- LinkedIn sends an email when your data is ready (usually within 10 minutes but very occasionally it can take up to 24 hours)
- Download the connections file from the link in the email
- Upload the zip file to Lime through the import connections feature
If you add new connections regularly, you may want to download your list weekly. Or, download less regularly and drag and drop important individual connections.
Important note: Only your LinkedIn connections are included in this download (people you’re mutually connected with). People you follow but aren’t connected to are not included in LinkedIn’s connections export. To add people you follow, use Method 2 below.
After importing:
All imported connections appear in your Lime connections list. You can then:
- Review and tag them by importance, industry, or category
- Set check-in schedules based on strategic value
- Add them to funnel segments
- Begin logging interactions to build Citizen Scores
- Search and filter to identify high-priority connections
Method 2: Add Individual Connections from LinkedIn
Add specific connections, people you follow, or anyone you discover on LinkedIn directly into Lime without doing a full import.
How to add connections individually:
- Open the Lime app (desktop application)
- Browse LinkedIn through the Lime app - you can add new profiles to Lime through your home feed, search results, profiles, or almost anywhere on LinkedIn (except Messages)
- Find the person you want to add to Lime
- Drag their name or profile picture into the Lime Control Center on the left side of your screen
- Wait a few seconds while Lime processes the addition
What happens next depends on whether the person is already in Lime:
If they’re already in your Lime list:
Their contact card opens immediately, showing:
- Current Citizen Score
- Existing tags and notes
- Interaction history
- Check-in schedule
- All saved information about this connection
Use this to quickly understand more about your relationship before engaging with them - review notes before commenting, check when you last interacted, or add new information after a conversation.
If they aren’t in your Lime list yet:
Their LinkedIn profile opens on the right side of the Lime app (where LinkedIn browsing happens within Lime). From here:
- Click AI Summary at the top of the profile
- Lime’s AI analyzes their LinkedIn profile and populates their contact card with:
- Suggested tags based on their industry, role, and profile content
- Summary notes about who they are and what they do
- Key information extracted from their profile (name, title, company)
- Review the AI-generated information - edit, add, or remove as needed
- Save the contact
The connection is now in your Lime list and ready for relationship building.
Bonus: Add Profile Pictures for your Lime Connections
Adding a profile picture isn’t necessary for all connections, but it can help you recognise the important ones faster. To add a profile picture to a connection:
- On the left hand side of the Lime app, search for the correct person in your connections list
- Click to go to their activity feed (this will open their contact card if you click from the search results, or keep it open if you click from the contact card)
- Drag their profile picture from their LinkedIn profile into the circle with their initials (e.g. TR for Tom Riddle)
- Their picture will appear in the their contact card, like magic
When to use individual adding:
People you follow but aren’t connected to: Influencers, thought leaders, or potential connections you want to track but haven’t connected with yet. Method 1 (LinkedIn download) won’t include these - add them individually.
New connections made after your last import: Someone you just connected with today. Add them immediately to Lime so you can set a check-in schedule and start building the relationship.
Discovered through LinkedIn browsing: Found someone interesting in comments, search results, or recommendations? Add them on the spot without losing context.
Quick access to existing connections: Drag someone into Lime while browsing LinkedIn to instantly open their contact card. This is useful when you want to check your relationship history before engaging.
Selective network building: Building a curated Lime list rather than importing everyone. Add only strategically important connections as you identify them.
