You have hundreds (maybe thousands) of LinkedIn connections. Some are valuable. Many are… that guy from 2018 who posts inspirational quotes.

Let’s organize this.

Search is your friend:

Go to Connections → Search. Type “marketing” and select “Other Text.” This searches job titles and descriptions. You’ll see everyone in your network with marketing in their profile.
Now bulk-tag them all as “marketing.”

Do this for a few key categories: industries you target, job titles you sell to, whatever makes sense for your business.

Then use those tags to build a strategy:

  • Search tag:prospect + Citizen Score 0-25 = prospects you’re neglecting
  • Search tag:client + last interaction >90 days = clients you should check in with
  • Search tag:referral-source + no check-in schedule = valuable connections you’re not engaging with

This is how you find the opportunities hiding in your network. That connection you made 18 months ago who now works at your dream client company? Tags and search help you find them - and not lose them.

LinkedIn tip of the day: Your existing connections are 7x more likely to respond than cold outreach. That’s like the difference between texting a friend versus yelling compliments at strangers on the street.

Worry less about growing your connection count. Start obsessing over activating the connections you already have.

Also: When you connect with someone new, send a message immediately. Don’t let them marinate in your connection list. Strike while you’re both in each other’s minds. (But fun fact - including a note in a connection request generally results in less people accepting it).

Tomorrow: The one habit that changes everything.
