Original Idea

What it is:

Space to capture the basic concept your post is based on. If your post originated from a saved notebook idea, that note appears here automatically. If you’re starting from scratch, you can optionally add a brief summary of what you’re trying to communicate.

Why it matters:

The AI coaching tools (Thinking Cards, Content Coach) can analyze either your fully-written post (left box) OR your original idea (this section). Providing the original idea gives the AI context about your intent, which can produce more relevant coaching. This is especially useful when the written post has evolved significantly from the original concept.

When to use it:

  • Post is based on notebook idea (automatically populated)
  • You want coaching based on concept rather than current draft wording
  • You’re stuck and want thinking prompts based on the core idea, not the specific text

When to skip it:

  • Writing from scratch with no prior concept
  • Prefer coaching based on actual post text rather than abstract concept

Content Coach

What it is:
AI editorial feedback on your written post (left box). Unlike Thinking Cards (which help you think), Content Coach evaluates what you’ve already written and suggests improvements.

How to use Content Coach:

Select post type: Sales, Informational, Personal, or Other (same categories as Content Laboratory notebooks)
Choose tone: Casual or Formal

  • Casual: Conversational, approachable, like talking with a friend
  • Formal: Professional, polished, more traditional business writing

Select feedback focus:

  • Flow and structure: How well is it written? Does it have logical organization, smooth transitions, effective pacing?
  • Clarity and impact: What will readers take away? Is the message clear? Does it have memorable, actionable insights?

What you receive:

Summary of the post
AI’s understanding of what you’re saying. If the summary misses your point, your post likely isn’t clear enough for readers either.
Main problem with the post
The biggest issue holding the post back. This could be structural weakness, unclear message, missing hook, weak conclusion, or something else.
Suggestions for improvement
Specific, actionable recommendations to fix the identified problems.

How to use feedback:

  • Take suggestions that resonate: If feedback identifies an issue you felt but couldn’t articulate, implement the suggestion.
  • Ignore suggestions that don’t fit: If your response is “but I wanted to write it like that,” that’s valid. Post it as it is. The coaching tested your thinking; you consciously chose this approach.
  • Experiment: Try implementing suggestions even when uncertain. See how modified versions perform compared to your instincts.
  • Get multiple perspectives: Run Content Coach multiple times with different settings (Casual Flow vs. Formal Impact) to see varied feedback angles.

Content Coach doesn’t write the post for you. It provides editorial perspective like a human editor would, flagging issues and suggesting solutions you implement (or don’t) based on your judgment.
